Hickory Man Charged With Fatal Hit And Run

The Hickory Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on Hwy 70 SE on Wednesday, February 19.

Around 8 am, officers responded to reports of a man lying beside the roadway in the 300 block of Hwy 70 SE and located the victim, Quinton Javar Davis, 40, of Catawba, deceased. While on scene, investigators determined Davis had been struck by a vehicle that left the scene.

The investigation determined the vehicle that struck Davis was a 2011 Ford F150 being operated by Russell Cornell Bell, 58, of Hickory. Bell was charged with Felony Hit and Run causing Death. Bell is being held under a $50,000.00 secured bond in the Catawba County Justice Center.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.
