Former Taylorsville Resident Charged With Attempted Murder This Morning

A Catawba County man has been charged with attempted murder. Brent Allen Dingess, age 32 of Mountain Grove Road in Hickory, was arrested this morning by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and charged with two-counts of attempted first-degree murder. He is being held without bond in the Catawba County Detention Center and is scheduled to make a Friday court appearance in Newton. This is a developing story with other details yet to be released.

Dingess is a former Taylorsville resident.

Update: The victims have not been identified but are reported to be a male and a female. They were airlifted to a regional medical facility and are listed in critical condition according to a press release from the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
