Hickory High Wins State 5A Volleyball Title

The Hickory High Red Tornadoes Volleyball team won the state 5A championship at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Friday night in Winston-Salem. Hickory won over Seaforth 3-1. The Red Tornadoes lost the first set 26-24 before rallying to win the final three sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22.

Emmi Gambill was named the most valuable player while Ryan Hines was named sportsmanship winner. Hickory their final 12 matches of the season to finish 35-4, and a perfect 16-0 in Western Foothills Athletic 4A/5A Conference play.
