Helms Named Hoop Coach At Bandys

CATAWBA — Bandys High announced Monday it has hired former Hickory High head women’s basketball coach Barbara Helms.
She replaces Eric King, who recently resigned after one season.

Helms is nearing 500 career wins — she also coached East Burke girls to start her prep varsity coaching career.

Her son, Brandon, is Bandys’ varsity head basketball coach, and his father Mike, are key varsity football assistants for the Trojans.
