Former Taylorsville Resident Now Charged With Murder

A former Taylorsville resident has been charged with murder.

As previously reported, Brent Allen Dingess age 32 of Mountain Grove Road in Hickory, was arrested Thursday morning by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office. Initially he was charged with two counts of attempted murder.

At approximately 10:30 on Christmas night, Catawba County Deputies responded to a reported disturbance at Dingess’ residence. Officers found an adult male and female who had been critically injured. The victims were flown to an area hospital.

The victim who passed away has been identified as 42-year-old Candy Annette Stacks. She died Thursday afternoon. A male victim remains in critical condition.

Dingess is being held without bond in the Catawba County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday in Newton.
