Former Statesville Pastor Arrested Again

A man who once was a Statesville pastor and a one-time Iredell-Statesville Schools employee has been arrested on a fugitive warrant and charged with failing to register as a sex offender in Virginia.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office arrested 41-year old Glen Dean McCoy Jr on Monday, September 16th.

McCoy was arrested in 2014 in Madison, Tennessee/ He was charged with raping a 17-year-old boy that he met online. Police also said they discovered emails between the teen and McCoy that showed photos of them engaging in sex acts. He was ordered to pay $19,012 in court costs and received a four-year suspended prison sentence. Court records show he was later ordered to serve a year in prison for violating the terms of his probation.

McCoy at one time was a co-pastor at The Life Church in Statesville. He worked as a bus driver and teacher’s assistant for I-SS from September 2002 until February 2012.

McCoy is no longer listed as an inmate in the Iredell County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 8th in Statesville.
