Roberston served on the Alexander County Board of Commissioners from 1978-1982. He was Chairman of the Alexander County Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Financing Authority, Chairman of the Alexander County EDC, and served on the Blue Ribbon Committee for Alexander County Schools and on the Solid Waste Committee. Robertson was named the Alexander County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2006.
He also served on the North Carolina State Board of Transportation from 1985 until 1998. Robertson served as the Deputy Asst. Secretary of the Dept. of Transportation from 1988-1992. He was awarded the prestigious Order of the Long Leaf Pine by then Governor Jim Martin.
Robertson was born in Alexander County and graduated from Stony Point High School. He was a tobacco farm owner, former electrical inspector, former owner of Robertson Construction Co. and former co-owner of Robertson Mobile Homes, Inc in Taylorsville. Harry served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 at South River United Methodist Church with full military honors accorded by Alexander County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service. The body will lie-in-state from 9-11 a.m., Friday at Adams Funeral Home in Taylorsville.
He was 92 years-old.
