Sherrills Ford – On Tuesday, September 12, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Catawba County on NC 150 near Beaver Boulevard. A 2000 Honda Civic traveling west on NC 150, drove off the right side of the road, drove back onto the roadway, crossed the center line, traveled off the left side of the road, overturned, and came to rest on its roof.
The driver of the Civic, Robert Allen Heath III, 19, of Tavares, Florida, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Heath was not restrained by a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The initial investigation indicates speed and alcohol were not contributing circumstances in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, NC 150 was partially closed in the area for one hour.
