Wednesday morning, at approximately 9:30 am, Officers with the Lenoir Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 1100 block of SW Tara Place.
Upon arrival, Officers located one adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Caldwell County EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
One person is currently in custody in connection with this incident. Preliminary information indicates the individuals involved were known to one another. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation. The name of the victim will be released once next of kin has been notified. Information regarding the suspect will be released as additional details are confirmed and appropriate to share. No further details are being released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation.
