On Sunday, July 9, shortly before midnight, Newton Police responded to a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in the area of the 1700 block of Old Conover Startown Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Jimmy G Hamrick, age 52 of Lincolnton, was operating a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle and heading southwest on Old Conover Startown Road when he ran off the left side of the roadway in a curve. The motorcycle struck a culvert. Mr. Hamrick was ejected from the motorcycle and was found deceased upon arrival of Newton Police, Newton Fire, and Catawba County EMS.
