The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an airplane crash that was reported Saturday evening in eastern Alexander county.
The single-engine aircraft went down in a wooded area off Smith Farm Road in Stony Point shortly before 7:30 pm. The pilot and passenger were airlifted to regional medical centers for treatment of what is being termed as non-life threatening injuries.
The FAA was on the scene Sunday morning. The name of the pilot and passenger have not been released.
