Explosion And Fire Sends Two Victims To Hospital This Morning In Catawba County

Two people suffered what is being termed life-threatening injuries as the result of an explosion and fire this morning in Catawba County.

The Oxford/Catfish Fire Department was dispatched around 5am to a residence on Shook RD in Claremont. A female and a male were taken to a hospital as result of their injuries. Three other people, including a 14-year-old girl, an 81-year-old woman and an adult male were able to escape without injury.

The Catawba County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating.
