Alexander Central rallied to win their opening game in the Northwestern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament on Tuesday in Taylorsville. The host Cougars spotted the visitors a 20-12 lead after the first quarter but were down only 3 by halftime. The third period is where AC took control of the contest by outscoring the Titans 20-12.
Jem Lowrance paced the Cougars with 25 points and 11 rebounds. Zach Wooten had 14 points including 4-4 from behind the three point line. Jamison Benfield added 12 as the Blue and Gold pushed their season record to 17-8. Next up, Coach Ed Wills and the Cougars will play the winner of the West Caldwell-Hickory game in the semi-finals Thursday in Hickory.
