Cougars Sweep Hibriten

Alexander Central 50 Hibriten 44

Taylorsville: A showdown between a pair of one-loss teams went to Alexander Central.

The Lady Cougars beat Hibriten 50-44 Tuesday night behind the duo of Meredith Wike and Kirstyn Herman. Wike had 22 points, Herman had 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Hibriten was led by Emma Poarch and Karlee Starnes with 14 each.

AC led wire-to wire with the exception of one tie in the first quarter.

Alexander Central is now 16-1 and 2-1 in Northwestern Conference play. The Panthers drop to 13-2 and 2-1.

Varsity Men

Alexander Central 59 Hibriten 33

The Cougars picked up a badly needed win over Hibriten. They led 32-7 at the half.

AC never trailed and were led by senior Chad Lasher with 23 points (10-11 from the field) and 9 rebounds. Garrison Millsaps added 15 points. Julius Martin was the top scorer for Hibriten with 11.

The win improves ACHS to 7-10 and 1-2 in league play. Hibriten falls to 1-14 and 0-3.

Boys: ACHS 48 Hibriten 28
