Cougars Sweep Ashe County. Wike Reaches 1,000 Points !

Taylorsville: Junior Meredith Wike scored her 1,000th career point in leading the Lady Cougars to a win in their conference opener Thursday night. Wike hit the 1,000th point mark when she swished a three-pointer from the corner with 7:08 remaining in the third quarter. She would end the game with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Three other Lady Cougars would hit double figures, Addie Jack with 12, Malayah Adams 11 and Faith Burch 10. Abby Sheets led Ashe County (9-5,0-1) with 14. Alexander Central improves to 10-4 and 1-0.

Varsity Men

Alexander Central 69 Ashe County 32

AC dominated the game and never trailed. They led 20-5 after the opening quarter. Jayon Connor shined with 38 points and 10 rebounds. No other Cougar reached double figures. ACHS wins the league opener and evens their season record at 9-9. Ashe County drops to 0-1 and 5-7.
