Alexander Central overcame 15 penalties and 2 fumbles in a rout over North Gaston Friday night in Dallas.
The Cougars out gained the Wildcats 514 to 215 and rushed for 451 yards. Cameron Lackey led the ground attack with 165 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Logan Shoemaker added 81 yards on 11 carries and a score, Robert Young scored and picked up 75 yards in only 4 carries. Quarterback Luke Hammer connected with Daniel Specht on a 40-yard td to complete the AC scoring.
Landon Wike picked up 7 tackles, Dalton Beck had 6 for the Cougar Defense.
The game took nearly three hours to complete on a muggy night. North Gaston was riddled with cramps and exhaustion by the time the game was over. The Cougars led only 14-6 until midway in the 3rd quarter, they would score the games final 27 points.
The Cougars improve to 2-0, North Gaston is 0-2. AC will travel to Asheville next Friday to battle AC Reynolds.
