Taylorsville: The visiting Lady Vikings took advantage of a huge rebounding edge and a cold-shooting Alexander Central team and cruised to victory Friday night.
North led by just 21-19 at the half but pulled away in the third quarter. Alexander Central shot 18.5 percent on the night and were out-rebounded 44-28. Allie Farrington topped the North scoring with 18. Shalyn Bare added 12 and pulled down 23 boards.
Meredith Wike’s 15 led AC’s scoring with 15 points.
Alexander Central drops their 2nd straight game and are 9-4. North Wilkes improves to 12-1.
Varsity Men
Alexander Central 44 North Wilkes 29
The Cougars (6-7) trailed 13-12 at the half before storming to a win. They outscored North Wilkes 32-16 after the break. AC had a 32-10 advantage in points-in-the-paint.
Jayon Connor paced ACHS with 18 points. Tyler Surgeon led North Wilkes (5-7) with 11.
