Northwestern Conference Championship

Alexander Central 4 St Stephens 3

Boone: Alexander Central followed up their regular season title with the league championship Thursday night but nothing about it was easy.

Jude Carter’s single plated a pair of runs in the opening inning to put AC out-front 2-0.

Koa Mikeal tripled in the third frame and scored on a Gunnar Johnson sacrifice fly. The Cougars led 3-0. The lead would swell to 4-0 in the fifth when Kade Church raced home on a sacrifice.

The Indians put two runs on the scoreboard in the 6th to cut the Alexander Central in half. They got another run in the 7th but Gunnar Johnson got the save when he struck-out a batter to end the game and send coach Pete Hardee’s Blue and Gold to the Title with a 22-3 record. St Stephens drops to 18-6.

Carter Bowman went 6.1 innings for the win.

Both teams now await the state pairings with AC looking to be an elite seed when the 6A Playoffs begin next week.
