50-year old Clifton Ray James of Conover was arrested by Hickory Police on Sunday and charged with felony first-degree forcible sexual offense and assault by strangulation. He is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond listed at $100,000. James is scheduled for a Newton court appearance today.
