Conover Man Charged With Cruelty To Animals And Flee To Elude

25-year-old Gabriel Dawson Propst of Conover was arrested by Conover Police Officers. He was taken into custody on May 3 and charged with felony counts of cruelty to animals, flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, and probation violation. Propst is also charged with identity theft and resisting a public officer.

Propst is on probation as a result of a conviction in February, 2023 in Catawba County on multiple felony charges including possession of a firearm by a felon, larceny of firearms, and breaking & entering. He served approximately eight months in jail prior to his release earlier this year. Following the most recent arrest, Propst was incarcerated in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $17,500 bond. A District Court date is scheduled for May 23.
