Conover Man Charged In Vehicle Chase Scheduled For Court Today In Taylorsville

A Conover man who led officers on a dangerous two-county vehicle chase last week is scheduled for court today in Taylorsville. Israel Jonathan Wise, age 29, was taken into custody last Thursday. He was pursued by the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office and the NC Highway Patrol in a stolen SUV. The chase entered Alexander County on Highway 16. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police used stop sticks to end the pursuit.

Wise is being held in Catawba County but is scheduled to appear in Taylorsville today on charges of felony flee to arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and injury to personal property. He has another court date in Alexander County scheduled for December 3rd. He will appear then on a list of charges that include hit and run with property damage, reckless driving with wanton disregard, speeding and driving with license revoked.
