Conover Couple Charged With Felony Intentional Child Abuse

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Conover Couple early Sunday morning on child abuse offenses.

Amy Lynn Gonzalez, age 38, is charged with felony intentional child abuse resulting in serious physical injury. She is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $25,000.

Christopher Michael Welch, age 36, is also charged with felony intentional child abuse resulting in serious physical injury. He is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $25,000.

Both suspects are scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday in Newton.
