Catawba County-based CommScope has announced it will sell a part of its company to a Connecticut technology company for $10.5 billion.
Amphenol, a provider of “high-technology interconnect, sensor and antenna solutions,” will purchase the connectivity and cable solutions segment of CommScope.
In a press release, CommScope said it expected to have “significant excess cash” after repaying debt, redeeming some preferred investments and adding “modest leverage” on the remaining business.
The deal is expected to close with Amphenol in the first half of 2026.
CommScope, a communication infrastructure company, has called Catawba County home since it was founded in 1975. The company was originally headquartered in Hickory but moved to Claremont in 2023. The company employs more than 1,000 people in Catawba County, according to the N.C. Department of Commerce.
On Monday, the company reported a 31.7% increase in sales in the second quarter of 2025 over the second quarter of 2024. Sales in the second quarter of 2025 were reported as more than $1.3 billion.
The segment of the company sold to Amphenol reported a 20% increase in sales in the second quarter of 2025 over the same period in 2024.
CommScope said the increase in sales was attributed to “an increase in the data center business.”
