Citizens That Suffered Damage To Private Roads And Bridges Can Apply For Assistance

March 31, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

The North Carolina Private Road and Bridge Program was launched to assist property owners across western North Carolina who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. Alexander County is included in the program area.

The Disaster Recovery Act of 2025 will prioritize repairs to private roads/bridges that are the sole access for emergency services to residential properties occupied by the property owner for over six months of the calendar year. Repairs are also prioritized for roads/bridges that provide access to multiple residential homes and recreation or commercial facilities.

Property owners can express interest in participating in the program by completing the form at https://ncdps.gov/helene/prb.
