Catawba County Teacher Facing Charges

ᴄᴀᴛᴀᴡʙᴀ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ, ɴᴄ – On Monday, May 11, 2026, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division Special Victims Unit (SVU) charged Christina McCarthy, a teacher employed at Catawba Elementary School, following an investigation into an incident involving a student.

The investigation began after the Catawba County School System notified law enforcement on this date regarding an incident that occurred on May 8, 2026.

Christina Ann McCarthy, 42, of Sherrills Ford, has been charged with:

• Misdemeanor Child Abuse
• Misdemeanor Assault on a Child Under 12

McCarthy received a $30,000 secured bond and scheduled to appear in Catawba County District Court on May 12, 2026.
