On Friday, at 4:54 am, Deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person near Section House Rd. When the Officers arrived they encountered an adult female who seemed disoriented. Deputies followed this person to her residence on Tanglewood Dr. Deputies discovered a 9-month old infant deceased inside that residence. This infant is the daughter of the adult female in question.
The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has initiated an investigation into the death of this infant. Foul play is suspected. Sheriff’s Investigators are consulting with the District Attorney’s Office and are awaiting autopsy results. The adult female has been admitted to a local hospital.
