Catawba County Requests To End Agreement With Taylorsville ABC Store

October 3, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

The Catawba County ABC Board has requested to end their agreement with the Taylorsville ABC store.

Ronald G. Kaylor, Jr., the General Manager of the Catawba County ABC Board dispatched a letter to the NC ABC Board in June requesting the merger be dissolved.

Taylorville asked for and was allowed to merge with the larger Catawba County Board in 2013. At the time the Taylorsvile store was the only ABC operation in Alexander County. The agreement with the larger board in Catawba County was an effort to increase profit. In return, the Catawba County ABC system received a 5 percent of gross sales from the Alexander County store.

Taylorsville is expected to reform a new ABC Board if the merger is allowed to end.

The Bethlehem ABC store opened after creating a new board in 2020.
