35-year old Mathew Paul Starnes of Hickory was arrested on Tuesday and charged with statutory sexual offense with a child and indecent liberties with a child. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office also charged Starnes with a pair of probation violations. As of this morning, Starnes was being held in the Catawba County Detention Center with a secured bond of $178,000.
