August 19, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Victor David Calderon-Gonzalez

32-year-old Victor David Calderon-Gonzalez of Newton was served with a felony warrant Thursday (August 15) as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He is wanted in El Paso, Texas on a charge of tampering with evidence. He was already in custody in the Catawba County Detention Facility where he had been since May 31 following an arrest by the Hickory Police Department on multiple counts of failure to appear, plus one count of resisting a public officer. Calderon-Gonzalez reportedly failed to appear in court on charges of driving while license revoked, driving left of center (twice), driving while impaired (twice), and failure to wear a seatbelt.

He was given a $45,000 bond on the fugitive warrant with no bond amount listed on the other charges. Calderon-Gonzalez was scheduled to appear in District Court yesterday (August 15) on the fugitive warrant with another appearance coming up on September 16. His only other listed court date is in February of next year on the D.W.I. and driving left of center charges.
