Catawba County Man Charged With Almost Twenty Counts Involving Child-Sex Offenses

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Town of Catawba man and charged him with 18 counts involving sexual offenses with minors.

57-year-old Jeffery Dean Griffin was taken into custody on Thursday, March 14th. He’s charged with one count of 1st-degree forcible sex offense, three counts of 1st-degree statutory sex offense, one count of statutory sex offense with a person who is 15 years of age or younger, and 13 counts of indecent liberties with a child. The Sheriff’s Office says the offenses date between the years of 1995 and 2019.

Griffin is being held in the Catawba County Detention Center under a secured bond of $1.2 million. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance today in Newton.

The investigation is continuing with additional charges possible.
