A Deputy involved in a crash in Catawba County in September has been charged. The incident occurred on September 15th.
On that date, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a collision on Sherrills Ford Road near the East Bandys Cross Road. A Catawba County Sheriff’s Deputy was responding to a call and traveling north on Sherrills Ford Road. The Deputy attempted to avoid a collision with a vehicle exiting the Dollar General parking lot. The Deputy lost control, crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road, and hit several cars in the parking lot at the Goldmine Store & Grill.
The Highway Patrol’s investigation indicates that speed was a contributing factor. The 2023 Dodge Durango, which was a Sheriff’s Office vehicle, did not have its emergency equipment activated. The Durango was driven by Deputy Jarrett Carl Isaac, who is 23-years-old. Deputy Isaac was transported by E.M.S. to Catawba Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. An occupant in one of the parked vehicles that was hit sustained minor injuries.
After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, Deputy Isaac was charged with careless and reckless driving. Isaac was issued a citation and will appear in court at a future date.
