Catawba County Crash On I-40 Involves Two Cars And Activity Bus

Conover- This afternoon around 3:20 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a collision in Catawba County on I-40 East near mile marker 129.

Two passenger vehicles traveling eastbound struck each other. This collision caused one of the vehicles to lose control and sideswipe an activity bus. The activity bus was from Stokes County. There were thirty-three students on the bus at the time of the collision and eight were treated for minor injuries at the scene. The drivers from the initial collision were transported by EMS to an area hospital with minor injuries. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed for approximately one hour.

Both drivers from the initial collision were charged with unsafe movement. No charges will be filed in this case against the driver of the activity bus.
