Catawba County Couple Arrested In Alexander County

Alexander County Deputies served Catawba County warrants for arrest on Tuesday and got a two-for-one.

Ashley Elaine Pope, age 37 of Claremont, was served warrants on charges of felony possession with intent to manufacture/sell and deliver schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. She has been transferred to the Catawba County Detnetion where she’s being held under a secured bond of $50,000.

Matthew Blair Richie, age 32 of Conover was at the same location and was charged with resisting a public officer. He’s being held without bond in the Alexander County Detention Center. Richie is no stranger to law enforcement. He has previous charges pending in Alexander County that include felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, second-degree trespassing and driving with license revoked.

Richie has a significant list of charges that are awaiting trial in Catawba County that include two counts of felony larceny, felony possession of stolen goods, felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, hit and run with property damage, felony possession of methamphetamine and driving with license revoked.
