Burns Overpowers Alexander Central

September 13, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Burns 29 Alexander Central 7

Lawndale: Burns rolled up 421 yards of offense and beat Alexander Central Thursday night in Cleveland County.

The Cougars got within 14-7 with 2:24 remaining in the third-quarter when QB Wade Queen hit TE Garison Millsaps on a 15-yards scoring toss. From that point forward, the Bulldogs dominated the 4th quarter adding a pair of scores while shutting down AC.

Burns QB Marshall McGowan went 9-11 passing for 174 yards although most of the yardage was jet-sweeps that are in reality a running play. Kenyon Surratt was the recipient of most of that “passing” with 125 yards.

Jeremiah Whitaker led Alexander Central with 60 yards on 12 carries. The Cougars ground attack managed only 119 yards and Queen suffered 3 sacks against a physical Burns defense.

ACHS drops to 2-2 and will conclude the non-conference season next Friday when they host Sun Valley.

Burns improves to 2-2.
