Burke County Man Charged With Making Threats To Elementary School

A Burke County man has been charged with making threats to Drexel Elementary School.

On Monday, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brandon Dean Johnson, age 40 of Drexel. He’s charged with felony communicating threats of mass violence to an educational campus. A search of his residence uncovered guns, ammunition, and a ballistic vest. A copy of Johnson’s arrest warrant said he told someone he would engage in a mass shooting against a Burke County school or schools.

According to jail records, Johnson is also awaiting trial on previous charges that include assault on a female and possession of schedule VI controlled substance. He remains in custody with bond set at $200,000.
