Brzykcy Earns First College Save

Virginia Tech sophomore Zach Brzykcy earned his first college save on Sunday. Brzykcy pitched a perfect 9th inning, striking out two batters as the Hokies beat Sam Houston State 3-2. The game was played in Deland, Florida.

Brzykcy was the Northwestern Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2017 for Alexander Central. Dubbed “Polish Thunder” he went  9-2 with a 1.53 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 55 innings pitched in his senior season with the Cougars.

As a Freshman, 2018 Brzykcy appeared in eight games, all out of the bullpen for Virginia Tech. He is the son of John and Caryn Brzykcy of Taylorsville.
