A man is in custody following a shooting this morning in Alexander County.
Alexander EMS and Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies responded around 8:30am to a location off Harbert Mountain Road in the Sugar Loaf Community after a call regarding a female being shot.
A landing zone was established nearby to transport the victim to a regional medical facility.
Sheriff Chris Bowman says a male suspect is in custody.

Update: 12:14 pm….The suspect is being questioned at this time. We can confirm that after the shooting, the suspect left the location and was pursued back to the crime scene by Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies.
