The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the soon to be 3 year-old child reported as missing has been found and is safe.
Mya Platt was last seen Sunday evening around 11pm at a location on Deal Farm Ln in the Wittenburg Community.
The Sheriff’s Office says the child is being transported to a medical facility for evaluation.

The child was located along the shoreline of Lake Hickory by an Alexander County Search and Rescue boat.

On Monday, October 17 at approximately 5:45 AM, Alexander County Communications received a call in reference to a missing child. The call came from a residence on Deal Farm Lane in the Wittenburg Community of Alexander County. The missing child was identified as 2-year-old Mya Platt (She will turn 3 in November). Officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police Department responded to the residence and began to search.
Additional units, including Alexander County Sheriff’s Office K-9s and drone teams from Catawba County and Iredell County responded to assist. The Alexander County Rescue Squad, Alexander County Emergency Management, and Alexander County EMS were also requested and arrived on scene to the staging area and command post at Dusty Ridge Wildlife Access. The Sheriff’s Office boat and Bethlehem Fire and Rescue boat were launched on Lake Hickory. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol helicopter was requested and arrived to fly over the scene. Other additional units arrived, including North Carolina Wildlife, Wittenburg Volunteer Fire Department, Ellendale Volunteer Fire Department, Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department, Taylorsville Volunteer Fire Department, Stony Point Volunteer Fire Department, Hiddenite Volunteer Fire Department, Sherrill’s Ford Fire and Rescue, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Following a search of the area, members of the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office boat patrol spotted the child on the shoreline of Lake Hickory, approximately.25 miles from her residence. The child was uninjured, but was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
