***Breaking News*** Man Injured in Taylorsville Drive-By Shooting !

A male subject was shot around 12:30 pm near the Tayorsvaille KFC/Taco Bell Restaurant today.

Taylorsville Police Chief Douglas Bowman is calling it a Drive-By Shooting.

The victim was struck with gunfire near the KFC/Taco Bell Parking lot and is being taken to a landing zone for air transport to a regional trauma center. Bowman said the victim suffered life threatening injuries.

A huge law enforcement presence is on the scene.

One eyewitness indicated a white or silver vehicle with front-end damage was spotted leaving the scene .

As a precaution, Taylorsville Elementary and Alexander Central High School have been placed on Code-In Status.

Update: Perhaps as many as 20 shots or more were fired during the incident.

The victim was struck at least once, perhaps multiple times
