***Breaking News*** Alexander County Man Pleads Guilty To Murder Of Grandmother, Gets Live Without Parole !

An Alexander County man has entered a guilty plea in the first-degree murder of his grandmother. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nathan Lee Lowe, age 41, entered the plea in a special session of Alexander County Superior Court on Friday October 9th. By agreeing to the plea deal, Lowe avoids the death penalty.

At approximately 9:18 p.m on November 25th, 2024, the Alexander County 911 center received a call from a concerned family member requesting a welfare check at 194 Russell Gap Rd, Moravian Falls ( the residence is in Alexander County). Deputies were dispatched to the location. Officers were unable to get anyone to answer the door. After making entry into the residence, they located 86-year-old Betty Kerley Tedder deceased, having suffered from obvious severe trauma.

Upon further investigation, deputies found Nathan Lee Lowe inside the residence. Lowe was taken into custody and charged with the murder.

Later, Lowe was charged with malicious conduct by a prisoner and felony probation violation. The plea included those charges as well and the sentences will be served concurrently.
