The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office says a body found near a Storyteller’s Rock campsite on September 30th has been identified as an Appalachian State student.
Joseph M. Ryan, 20, of Huntersville, NC, was the person found deceased. Criminal activity is not indicated according to a report that says three hikers found the body near the campsite at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, and called 911.
Ryan was listed as a freshman at A.S.U.
