Bicyclist Killed In Lincoln County

A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a hit & run crash in Lincoln County. The deceased is 23-year-old Jaycob Len Neece of Huntersville.

On Wednesday, at approximately 9:50 am, the NC State Highway Patrol was notified of a fatal hit-and-run collision in Lincoln County on NC 73 near South Pilot Knob Road. A 2014 Honda CR-V traveling east on NC 73 struck a bicyclist at approximately 3:05 a.m. After the collision, the Honda continued east on NC 73 into Mecklenburg County. The victim’s bicycle was located near the Cowans Ford Dam Overlook.

The bicyclist, Jaycob Len Neece passed away from his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Honda, 30-year-old Brian Marcus James of Mount Holly, was not injured. James was arrested in Huntersville and charged with felony hit and run and misdemeanor death by vehicle.

He received a $40,000 bond and was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center. Investigating troopers seized the vehicle. During the on-scene investigation, NC 73 was closed in the area for several hours
