Bank Robbery On Wednesday In Ashe County

A bank robbery on Wednesday in Ashe County. A suspect has been arrested.

Tavares Deshawn Leverett, 32, of West Jefferson is charged with the heist that happened at the LifeStore Bank in Jefferson.

At approximately 10:05 a.m., Ashe 911 Dispatch received a call stating that the Jefferson branch of LifeStore Bank had been robbed. A male subject, later identified as Tavares Deshawn Leverett, entered the bank, demanded money, and fled on foot.

Leverett was apprehended after a brief foot chase by Jefferson Police, West Jefferson Police and the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect is charged with felony common law robbery and felony breaking and entering. Leverett was transported to the Ashe County Detention Center and is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
