An autopsy on the human remains found earlier this week in Alexander County is scheduled for today. Sheriff Chad Pennell says the remains have been taken to the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. “Where we go with this investigation will be greatly influenced by what is determined, were hoping it will give us something we can go on” Pennell stated on Wednesday. He would not comment if there was evidence of foul-play.
The remains were located in an area just north of Schneider Mills, about one mile north of the Taylorsville city limits. The state of the remains made it obvious that the body had been dead for some time. Duck hunters stumbled onto the discovery.
The SBI is assisting the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
