Ashe County The Latest School To Halt Football Activity

August 26, 2021 By Richard C. Gilbert

Ashe County High School, a new member of the Northwestern Conference which includes Alexander Central, has shut down their football program for the next two weeks due to COVID-19. The Huskies were scheduled to host North Wilkes Friday evening in West Jefferson.

Ashe County joins area teams South Caldwell and Hibriten who have also stopped football activity due to COVID protocol.

Alexander Central’s JV game scheduled for Thursday night was postponed due to COVID issues as well. The Friday varsity game at North Gaston is still scheduled.
