Conover– On Saturday, September 23, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Catawba County on 1st Street West near Deborah Herman Road. A 2015 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on 1st Street West and drove off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole and tree. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, Dustin Tyler Hagler, 25, of Charlotte, NC, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
During the on-scene investigation, 1st Street West was partially closed in the area for one hour. The initial investigation indicates excessive speed as contributing to the collision.
