Alexander County’s COVID-19 Rate Is 2nd Highest In State During Last Two-Weeks

December 1, 2020 By Richard C. Gilbert

Alexander County has now recorded 1,653 COVID-19 cases according to the latest figures from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

901 cases have been counted in the last 14 days giving the county the 2nd highest test positivity rate in the state during the two-week period. The county remains in the state’s “red” tier for “critical community spread.”

The county has recorded 17 deaths associated with the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

Due to the Governor’s recent Executive Order and to help control the spread of the virus, masks are now required to enter county buildings. Employees will also wear masks when interacting with coworkers or citizens.
