Alexander County Woman Charged With Arson

On October 23rd, 2024, at around 2:41pm, the Alexander County 911 received a call of a structure fire at 508 Princess Ln in Hiddenite. Departments from Stony Point, Hiddenite, Vashti, Ellendale, and Taylorsville all responded to the fire and were able to extinguish the flames with no loss of life. The Fire Marshal’s Office investigated and determined the cause to be arson. The Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation and found that the fire was started by using available materials found within the residence.

Harlee Kae Korte

Following the investigation, Harlee Kae Korte, age 30 of Hiddenite, was charged with 2nd Degree Arson on Wednesday. Korte was arrested in Catawba County by the Hickory Police Department on Thursday. Korte was placed under a secured bond of $50,000.00 with a first appearance on October 28th, 2024 in District Court.
