As a result of the damage inflicted on our community by the remnants of Hurricane Helene, some homes have had their electrical service lines damaged by falling debris. The electrical service providers in this area require an electrical inspection before they will energize these electrical services. Alexander County Building Inspections normally charges a fee for this inspection; however, in light of the hardships already inflicted on areas of our community, the Alexander County Board of Commissioners and County Manager Todd Herms have instructed Alexander County Building Inspections to waive these fees.
This waiver only applies to reconnection inspections as a result of storm damage. This waiver does not apply to extensive electrical or structural repairs required as a result of storm damage.
When applying for reconnection, those requesting the waiver of fees will need to provide the energy utilities ticket or job number. If you have any questions or if you have any damage to a structure you wish to report, please contact Alexander County Building Inspections at 828-632-1000 extension #4, or contact the Chief Inspector directly at 828-446-0295.
