Alexander County is pleased to announce the 2024 Summer Concert Series on the Rotary Performance Stage at Alexander County Courthouse Park in downtown Taylorsville. The free concerts are scheduled on May 11, June 1, July 20, September 14, and September 28 at 7:00 p.m.
The May 11th concert will feature “Alabama Sunset,” a popular tribute band that performs the many hits of legendary country band Alabama, with amazing vocal harmonies and detailed playing. Attendees can expect to hear hits like Mountain Music, Tennessee River, Feels So Right, The Closer You Get, Love in the First Degree, Dixieland Delight, and many more. The June 1st concert will feature southern gospel favorite, “The Whisnants.” This traditional gospel group dates back to its beginnings in 1970 in Morganton. Years passed and the group’s legacy and worship continue as they play for large crowds throughout the southeast and beyond. They celebrated 13 number-one songs from 2001 to 2013 and their first single in 2014 was nominated as a top 10 favorite song in the Singing News Top 40 Year End Chart. The July 20th concert will feature “The Extraordinaires” as part of an Independence Celebration in Alexander County. Formed in the spring of 2003 in the Hickory/Charlotte area, the band has a unique blend of music that will get people out of their seats and on the dance floor. From the powerful horns to the smooth lead vocals of Alexander County native Sarah Davis Jones, the band has a live sound that is sure to please. View a sample video at https://vimeo.com/762095536. After the concert, the public is invited to enjoy a patriotic fireworks display around 9:30 p.m. at Alexander Central High School on the practice field. Parking will be available at the high school, county administration, board of education, senior center, and other nearby parking areas.
The September 14th concert will feature “All My Rowdy Friends,” a Hank Williams Jr. tribute. With his natural appearance, front man Frank Morrow keeps the “family tradition” alive with the sound and stage presence of Bocephus. The September 28th concert will feature “Tribute – A Celebration of The Allman Brothers Band.” Since its founding in 2013 in Atlanta, this eight-piece tribute band has earned a reputation as the authentic Allman Brothers Band sound. Rigged with vintage equipment, they interpret the Allman catalog in such a way that these songs written in the 1960s and 1970s come alive again. View a sample video at https://youtu.be/XXzdEm3wp7U.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the 2024 Alexander County Summer Concert Series. Food trucks will be on-site for each concert. No dogs, coolers, or tents are allowed. All park rules and regulations apply.
